Vegan Apple Ring Fritters

Makes 8-10 apple ring fritters

These fruity apple ring fritters lightly dusted in a little icing sugar make a magnificent breakfast or tea time treat.

Free from Gluten, Egg, Soya, Wheat, Dairy, Nuts
Vegetarian, Vegan, Without crystal sugar


Change Quantities:


  1. Sieve the chickpea flour and bicarbonate of soda into a large bowl and mix them together.
  2. Add the water and stir to bring together into a smooth thick paste.

Apple Ring Fritters

  1. Line a baking tray with a few pieces of kitchen paper and set aside.
  2. Peel the apples and remove the core with an apple corer.
  3. Cut the apples into 5cm/¼” thick rings.
  4. Put some oil in a frying pan over a medium heat.
  5. Dip an apple ring in the batter, shake off any excess and slowly slide it into the hot pan.
  6. Cook over a medium heat until the base is golden, about 3 - 6 minutes depending on the heat.
  7. Turn the fritters over and cook on the other side, another 3 - 6 minutes.
  8. OR cook batter covered apple rings in a deep fat fryer according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  9. Remove cooked apple ring fritters to the prepared baking tray, cover and keep warm.
  10. Repeat with the remaining apple rings.
  11. Sieve sugar over the fritters and serve.
