Wholemeal Spelt Bread Machine Loaf

Makes 1 loaf

Free from Egg, Soya, Dairy, Nuts
Vegetarian, Vegan, Organic, Wholemeal

Ingredients

Change Quantities:
  1. Put the ingredients into the bread machine pan in the order recommended by the machine manufacturer.
  2. Turn the machine to the whole wheat rapid bread setting.
  3. Check the pan is locked into position and start the machine.
  4. Remove the bread from the machine as soon as it is cooked and remove the mixer paddle from the base.
  5. Cool the bread on a wire rack.

Love this loaf! I am able to eat spelt flour but not other bread with gluten in (mainly I think because the spelt form is older / less modified and easier to digest) so this loaf is a fantastic one to make. What's even better is that everyone in the family loves it. I add a little extra yeast which seems to lighten it up just a bit. Great recipe and great Dove's Farm spelt flour - lovely bread! Making more of it at the moment as not going out to shops due to current covid 19 situation. Glad I had some in the cupboard as everywhere has sold out. We are becoming a nation of breadmakers :-)

My machine doesn't have a fast wholemeal function, but it worked on the normal white setting, It didn't rise as high as conventional wholemeal loaf.

Just a tip on this recipe add 1 tsp of Doves farm bread improver to this to make it rise more and a bit lighter

Perfect loaf first time! Great texture, holds together well and lovely crust. Perfect thin slices too. Definitely a go-to for me.

Just made this in my new breadmaker and it is simply perfect! Lovely texture, delicious flavour, and very quick to make - 55 minutes on the fastbake setting. This will probably be my usual daily bread. Scrumptious.

Made my first loaf of bread today using this recipe and doves farm whole meal spelt flour using my grandmothers ancient bread maker... It was nothing less than perfect... super tasty bread!! Can’t wait to try the others!! Thanks
