Sage and Onion Scone Cobbles


  • 200g Doves Farm Organic Plain White Flour
  • 1 tbsp FREEE Baking Powder
  • 1 tbsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 50g red onion
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 125ml water
  • flour for dusting


  1. Dust a large baking tray with a little flour and pre-heat the oven.
  2. Sieve the flour and baking powder into a bowl, add the sage, paprika, sugar, salt and pepper and blend together well.
  3. Finely dice the onion, add it to the bowl and stir until all the pieces are covered in flour.
  4. Stir in the oil.
  5. Add the water and mix to form a soft dough.
  6. Dust the worktop with flour then, using your hands, gather the dough into a ball and place on the floured worktop.
  7. Sprinkle the dough with flour, shape it into a square and flatten it gently with your hands until 2cm/¾” thick.
  8. Cut the dough into 4 squares and lift them on to the prepared baking tray.
  9. Bake for 18-20 minutes.
