Gluten Free Onion Bhajis

Makes 10 bhajis

These well-known savoury snacks are delicious served warm with plain yoghurt and chutney OR to accompany curry dishes.

Vegetarian, Vegan, Wholemeal, Without crystal sugar

Ingredients

Change Quantities:
  • 75g FREEE Gram Flour
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp mixed spice
  • 4 tbsp water
  • 100g onion, grated
  • 25g potato, grated
  • 5 tbsp oil
  1. Line an oven dish with two sheets of kitchen paper.
  2. Put the gram flour, cumin seeds, coriander, turmeric, salt and mixed spice into a large mixing bowl and stir to combine.
  3. Add the water, a spoon at a time, stirring to make a paste.
  4. Grate the onion into the bowl and stir to combine.
  5. Now grate the potato into the bowl.
  6. Mix everything together well.
  7. Put the oil into a frying pan over a medium heat.
  8. Take a rounded spoon of the mixture and carefully slide it into the hot pan.
  9. Cook the bhaji, turning it regularly, until golden brown on all sides.
  10. Using a slotted spoon, lift the bhaji onto the prepared oven dish and cover to keep warm.
  11. Repeat the cooking process with the remaining bhaji mixture.
