If you don’t have any flour in the house but still want to do some baking, it is possible to make flour in a kitchen blender or coffee grinder using some of the ingredients in your cupboard! Look through your breakfast cereals, sweet and savoury biscuit barrel and the cake tin for anything that might need using up. The items may have softened or stale but should not smell bad or be mouldy. If you try grinding nuts, do this slowly or you might end up with a nut butter. Grains and beans will probably be too hard for a domestic machine to process easily. Use a combination of 3 or 4 homemade flours to bake Sponge Layer Cake with Homemade Flour, Pancakes with Homemade Flour, or rustle up some Soda Bread Rolls with Homemade Flour.
