Gluten Free Porridge

Makes One serving

Hot porridge is one of the most satisfying and versatile breakfasts. It can be made with water, milk or fruit juice and willingly embraces a range of additions such as syrup, chopped fruit, honey and cream or even a fried egg. For a very soft porridge, mix your up your oats the night before and cook it gently the next morning.

Change Quantities:

Porridge - On the hob

  1. Put the oats and water, or milk, into a saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat for 4-6 minutes, stirring regularly.
  3. Add more water (or milk) if the porridge seems too thick.
  4. Pour into a bowl to serve.

Porridge – in the microwave

  1. Put the oats and water (or milk) into a microwaveable bowl.
  2. Cook on full power for 2 minutes.
  3. Stir and cook for a further 1 minute if using water or 2 minutes if using milk.
  4. Allow to stand for 1 minute before eating.
