Gluten Free Chickpea Flour Batter

This vegan batter made with chickpea flour and water is ideal for frying sweet and savoury items such as vegan apple ring fritters or vegan battered vegetable fritters.

Vegetarian, Vegan, Without crystal sugar

Ingredients

Change Quantities:
  1. Measure the chickpea flour and bicarbonate of soda into a bowl, stir to combine and sieve this into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add half the water and stir to bring together a smooth and thick paste.
  3. Stir in the remaining water.
  4. Put some oil in a frying pan over a medium heat.
  5. Dip your item to be cooked in the batter, shake off any excess and slowly slide it into the hot pan.
  6. Cook over a medium heat turning the item until golden on all sides, about 4-10 minutes depending on size and heat of the oil.
  7. OR cook battered items in a deep fat fryer according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
