Gluten Free and Vegan Brown Bread in a Bread Machine

A vegan version of our bread machine brown bread loaf. For best results, we like to use rice milk, olive oil and brown sugar in this recipe but you can swap these for any vegan milk, vinegar and sugar all of which vary the loaf slightly. If your machine does not offer a gluten free bake setting, use the rapid program and high bake setting.

Medium Loaf

2.4lt pan*

Large Loaf

3lt pan*

vegan milk 550ml 760ml
oil 6 tbsp 9 tbsp
vinegar 1 tsp 1½ tsp
FREEE Brown Bread Flour 500g 750g
sugar 1 tbsp 1½ tbsp
salt 1 tsp 1½ tsp
Doves Farm Quick Yeast 2 tsp 3 tsp

*Fill your bread pan with water to determine its capacity.


Method:

  1. Put the vegan milk, oil and vinegar, into a bowl and whisk well.
  2. Pour this into the bread machine pan.
  3. Add the flour, sugar and salt.
  4. Sprinkle the yeast on top.
  5. Close the lid and start the machine. For best results select a gluten free program. Alternatively use a basic rapid setting with the high bake option.
  6. When cooked remove the bread from the pan and allow it to cool completely before slicing.
