Crispy Chili Beef

About this recipe:
Crispy Chili Beef is surprisingly simple to make and something of a fake away favourite, this dish of beef strips with a crispy cornflour coating and Asian style sauce can be served with your favourite rice or noodles.
Equipment:
2 x mixing bowls
Ingredients:
200g steak
6 tbsp Doves Farm Organic Cornflour
3 tsp five spice powder
4 tbsp fish sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp sweet chili sauce
½ tsp honey
4 spring onions
1 carrot
1 green chili
2cm/¾ inch ginger root
2 garlic cloves
50ml groundnut oil
fresh coriander, to serve
Method:
- Slice the steak into thin strips, put them in a mixing bowl, add the cornflour and five spice powder and stir to combine.
- Measure the fish sauce, soy sauce, sweet chili sauce and honey into a bowl and stir to make a sauce.
- Thinly slice the spring onions, coarsely grate the carrot, deseed and dice the chili, peel the ginger and garlic and dice finely.
- Heat the oil until hot, stir the sliced beef and carefully slide it into the pan to cook for a few minutes.
- Turn the crispy beef over and scatter the prepared spring onion, carrot, chili, ginger and garlic over the top and cook for another few minutes.
- Stir the crispy beef, pour on the prepared sauce and allow to bubble for a minute or two.
- Chop some fresh coriander and scatter over the chili beef before serving.
