Broccoli in Cheese Sauce


  • 50g Doves Farm Organic Plain White Flour
  • 50g butter
  • 600ml milk
  • 100g cheddar, grated
  • 150g broccoli
  • salt and pepper


  1. Put the flour, butter and milk into a saucepan over medium heat, stirring all the time.
  2. Continue stirring as the sauce thickens.
  3. When the sauce comes to the boil allow it to cook for a minute, still stirring.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat, stir in the grated cheese and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Chop the broccoli into florets and steam or boil for 8–10 minutes until just soft.
  6. Add the cooked broccoli into the prepared sauce then tip everything into a 1lt/2pt oven dish.
  7. Serve immediately or brown the top under a hot grill for 2–3 minutes.
