Gluten Free Banana Pancakes

Makes 6-7 pancakes

These delicious pancakes are made without any sugar, using banana for natural sweetness. They are also gluten free, and can be made free from egg and dairy using our suggested ingredient swaps. Delicious served with golden syrup, agave nectar, maple or birch syrup.

Free from Gluten, Soya, Wheat, Dairy, Nuts
Vegetarian, Without crystal sugar


Change Quantities:
  1. Put the flour and baking powder into a large bowl or jug and stir to combine.
  2. Beat in the egg (or chickpea flour + water) and milk to make a smooth batter.
  3. Thinly slice the banana.
  4. Put a little oil into a frying pan, roll it around to cover the surface and heat until nice and hot.
  5. Pour batter into the pan to make 75mm/3” circles.
  6. Carefully put a few banana slices onto each circle and cook on medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
  7. When bubbles appear on the surface and the base is golden reduce the heat to low.
  8. Turn the pancakes over and cook the other side for 1-2 minutes.
  9. Transfer cooked pancakes to a plate and repeat until the batter is used.
  10. Serve warm with syrup of your choice.

This recipe needs salt. Tried twice without and was very bland and tasted more of flour than banana. A little salt...much tastier.

An excellent recipe for weekend. I don't like sweets, so this banana pancake is a great idea. I used the quantities from this site, except for milk. For 250g flour I poured only 250 ml milk. Thank you dovesfarm for the flour quality and the provided recipes. Hope you'll continue to export your products in Europe.

Made these for the gang this morning because I couldn’t find our “usual” pancake recipe on your new site. No matter - these were much tastier and a good texture too. My five year old has just devoured five of them. It’s a good job daddy’s not up yet or we would need a second batch!

This is probably the best gluten free US style pancake recipe on the web. I made a little change to the recipe, more by accident than anything, but it has an amazing outcome. Mix 50/50 plain and self raising flour. Then cook medium low for a little longer and watch them rise into proper thick tasty pancakes! Banana adds sweetness without using refined sugars. Lovely!!

I just finished making these. Great recipe. I substituted banana for 2 tbsp caster sugar and added some vanilla essence. It makes 5 average sized pancakes. Would definitely recommend!
