I buy this 2 sacks at a time to save on postage! It makes fantastic sourdough bread which is really easy if you use my clever part bread machince method. But I don't use any yeast at all, as I just use the machine to do the final knead after the fermentation. The fact that this is stoneground means that the flour stays fresh for longer as the oils are distributed more evenly than with roller milling, and my opinion is that the flour is actually finer than roller milling. It certainly makes an impressive sourdough loaf - even with the addition of 75g of milled seeds - flax, sunflower, hemp, sesame & pumpkin AND 50g of doves farm rye flour - I get a superbly open crumb.

I eat bread, lots of bread so I bake my own. This flour is used in both a Morphy Richards quick bake machine and for making 'proper' bread by hand (Kenwood chef actually) using proving baskets, loaf tins and clay pots. A high quality versatile flour.

I used to make lovely loaves of bread with this flour on a fortnightly basis. Now I make pittas instead of loaves. I don't add any white flour which is often recommended. The results are marvellous and my grandchildren (5 and 8) eat them just as they are with no butter or anything on them! Having read the reviews above I shall now make chappattis with this flour as well!

This is by far the best Wholemeal bread flour I have used, it always produces a loaf with great texture and great taste. Just check your recipe as sometimes the liquid content of the recipe needs to be adjusted and more water added to make sure the dough is not too dry, which will produce a heavier loaf. I tend to mix it well, leave it to stand for ten minutes and then adjust if necessary.
