Judging by the reviews, the ingredients are questionable - palm oil is a cheap fat used in pretty much every mass-produced biscuit alive today on supermarket shelves globally, & sweetened with synthetic, dangerously unhealthy sweeteners, imparting excessive sweetness to the product & refined flours, including brown & none of the ingredients is organically sourced. We expect a whole lot more from an endeavour such as Doves Farm. There simply isn't enough authenticated claims for the ingredients in D F's digestives to make me want to try them. But thank you, Doves Farm, for being honest enough to allow the public to review your products.
Dear Michelle, we use palm fat because it is one of the few “vegetable oils” that is naturally solid at room temperature. Most plant based oils require hydrogenation to make them solid but this is not allowed in organic products. Our palm oil comes from sustainable, non-GM (genetically modified), organic suppliers in Colombia. It is fully traceable, and being produced in South America is in no way implicated in the destruction of Orangutan habitats. Indeed, our producers are dedicated to enhancing their local environment, by setting aside at least 10% of their land for “wildlife corridors”, which is not only valuable for the natural fauna and flora in its own right but helps control pests and diseases in the organic palm crop.
