Originating in Turkey, Rye was extensively used during the Roman Empire to make rye bread.
Our Organic Rye Flour has a distinctive flavour and is still milled the old fashioned way, using whole grains of rye in the stoneground process. It is naturally lower in gluten than wheat, producing close textured breads with a pleasing continental flavour.
This 1kg pack is suitable for home bakers and provides enough flour to make roughly 4 rye soda bread loaves.

This makes excellent rye bread, but anyone with wheat allergy (as opposed to gluten intolerance) please note that the rye flour is milled on the same equipment as wheat, and may pick up enough wheat to cause symptoms.
