Herb Dumplings are easy to prepare and add great texture and substance to a stew.

Ingredients

200 gPlain Wholemeal Flour or Plain White Flour
100 gShredded Suet
1 tspBaking Powder
2 tbspsChopped Parsley
1 tspThyme
1 Pinch of Salt
1 Pinch of Pepper
1 Egg

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix together the flour, suet, baking powder, parsley, thyme, salt and pepper.
  2. Add the beaten egg and bring together into a firm, but soft dough. If this does not happen easily add a little water.
  3. Divide the dough into 12 and roll each into a ball.
  4. Cook the dumplings in boiling water or preferably in a moist stew for 40/45 minutes.

Wow!!! i thpought i was making mini dumplings however these things grew and grew!!! really fluffy and light! I replaced the thyme with parsley mmmm xxx
