Gluten Free Brown Soda Bread
This quick and easy to make bread contains no wheat, gluten or yeast.
Ingredients
| 500g/20oz |
Gluten Free Brown Bread Flour |
| ¼tsp |
Salt |
| 5tsp |
Baking Powder |
| 2tsp |
Xanthan Gum |
| 1tsp |
Vinegar |
| 1tbsp |
Oil |
| 500ml/15floz |
Milk |
| 2 tbsp |
any Gluten Free Flour |
Method
- Mix together the flour, salt, baking powder and xanthan gum.
- Stir the vinegar into the milk.
- Add the milk mixture to the flour.
- Stir to form a soft slightly sticky dough and stir to form a soft dough.
- Dust a large oven baking tray with one spoon of extra flour.
- Scatter the second spoon of extra flour over the dough.
- Roll the dough into an oval an place on the baking tray.
- Bake in a pre-heated oven for 80/90 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and cool on a wire rack.
- For a softer crust wrap the bread in a clean tea towel while it cools.
Temperature & cooking time:
200˚C /fan180˚C /400˚F / Gas 6 for 80/90mins
