Topic: Proving Baskets

I was at the BBC Good Food Show recently and seems to spend a lot of time talking to people who were interested in proving baskets and what they are used for.

There has been a big increase in home baking recently. People start off with the sandwhich loaf in a tin or a bread machine. You realise that you've done something special and want to do it again. As you get addicted to the smell of fresh bread and your cravings get worse you look for something with a little more kick. You move onto more and more exotic breads culminating in the dark arts or SOUR DOUGHS!!!

The more you bake the more it comes about creating something which, looks just as amazing as it tastes. You think everyone should do it.

This thread is about proving baskets and how you can make bread look extra special.

I would love to get some photos of people's home baked goodies.

Here is the first, a Levain de Campagne, in a cane proving basket.

Re: Proving Baskets

Beautiful! My 'wish for list' is getting longer & longer!!!!
The proofing basket does make a professional looking loaf.
You're sooo right, us home bakers master a technique (mine sourdough bread) courtesy of Jethro 'holding my hand', thank you, then we want to keep on improving what we've achieved, it's a good thing isn't it, no harm in striving for perfection, even if it's only in this passion for bread & baking that I've got......Pity I wasn't so enthusiastic with ironing though!!!!!
Oh well, we've always got good bread,
Odelle.
