The Fairtrade Foundation works towards alleviating poverty by developing a more balanced trading system. When you buy a product that carries the Fairtrade mark, you can be sure that a fair price was paid to the producers of the raw materials that it is made from. An agreed minimum price for ingredients acts as a safety net for producers in markets where prices can fluctuate greatly. As well as being guaranteed a fair price to cover the cost production, Fairtrade producers also receive an additional premium which can be used to fund social, environmental and economic development in their community. Fairtrade certification is your reassurance of product traceability and authentication.
